EV Charging Connectors

J-1772 CONNECTORS

Level 1 and Level 2 chargers use J-1772 connectors, which are standard and work on all EVs. The U.S. adoption of the J1772 Standard ensures all Level 2 charging station connectors will be compatible with EV inlets found in U.S. vehicles.

The connector is weather-resistant and features built-in safety measures. It only activates after a safe connection is detected and automatically de-energizes when unplugged. The vehicle remains immobile while connected, preventing accidental drive-off incidents.

CCS and CHAdeMO CONNECTORS

Level 3 chargers often feature both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, providing compatibility with a wide range of electric vehicles.

  • CCS Connector: U.S. standard for most EVs. Combines the J1772 AC plug with DC fast charging capabilities in a single port. Supports bidirectional charging.
  • CHAdeMO Connector: Commonly used by Japanese manufacturers such as Nissan and Mitsubishi. Also supports bidirectional charging.

Tesla vehicles use a proprietary connector but can charge at non-Tesla stations using available adapters.
