Illinois’ fluorescent lighting phase-out is underway. As of January 1, 2026, new screw-base and bayonet-base CFLs can no longer be sold or distributed in Illinois. Beginning January 1, 2027, the restrictions expand to pin-base CFLs and linear fluorescent lamps, including common T5, T8, T10 and T12 tubes.
