Totally Integrated Automation
Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) represents a complete spectrum of automation components that feature the highest possible level of integration of both hardware and software, including:
A uniform software environment that supports most phases of the project, including hardware selection, programming and operation and diagnostic services. All components and systems are configured, programmed, tested and monitored with a single, fully integrated software platform.
A common database that significantly reduces data entry tasks and ensures consistency throughout the project. All data, entered only once, becomes readily available factory-wide.
A common communications architecture, easily configured and readily scalable, ranging from the sensor/actuator level to factory-wide networks.
Steiner and Siemens offer all the key components of your plantwide or machine automation solution, including PLCs and I/O, software, HMI, motion control, motors and drives, networking technology and more, all tied together by world-wide service and support.
Motion Control
As a full line Siemens Automation Distributor, Steiner Electric Company offers the complete line of Siemens Motion technology. Siemens motion products have earned global acceptance as a result of both their performance and support.
From sizing and selection of the proper components to programming assistance, Steiner has the experienced team of motion control specialists to take you through each step of the application. We offer solutions for basic or high precision applications, as well as single and multi-axis control.
Steiner will provide the key components including; servo/stepper drives and motors, gear reducers, linear slides, rotary tables and couplings. Our experience includes packaging, robotics, rotary dials, assembly machines, cut-to-length and X-Y table applications.
Automation Software
Steiner offers an integrated suite of software tools from Siemens that increases engineering efficiency through the life cycle of your automation systems.
Siemen's Step 7 uses the latest in development practices and standards, including structured programming and object oriented programming techniques, allowing users the opportunity to benefit from the significant time savings resulting from collaborative engineering.
Engineer your PLCs, Motion, Drives, Networks, HMI and SCADA all in one platform. Design, configure, test, debug and maintain your automation systems all from the same integrated platform.
Adherence to standards, integrated, scalable tools and worldwide service and support have made Siemens a global leader in manufacturing automation software. Let us show you how we can significantly reduce your engineering costs with a Siemens Step 7 solution.
PLCs and HMI
Steiner's Automation Products Team provides factory floor, automation solutions for most any application. For either discrete or process control, the Siemens family of PLCs includes embeddable controllers as small as 10 I/O points, or large systems exceeding 10,000 I/O points. A single, integrated control platform for motion or machine safety adds flexibility while reducing engineering and implementation costs. Siemens' WinAC, PC based control software offers a flexible, open PLC alternative.
Siemens HMI: The Siemens portfolio of HMI products ranges from operator panels and visualization software for control and monitoring of a machine to complete SCADA systems providing plant-wide process visualization. Siemens HMI solutions function as the bridge between your factory and enterprise business system.
A universal programming and development environment supports the entire project lifecycle, reducing project engineering costs. An intuitive, structured approach shortens the design and implementation timeframe.
Vision and Sensors
Steiner offers a complete solution for most any vision application. From low end, cost effective solutions performing simple tasks, to high-speed, high-accuracy systems, Steiner has the right solution for your application. We offer technical support from the early development stages of your application through implementation and startup. Steiner also has multiple lines of lenses, lighting, enclosures, and support systems to complement our vision products. Our vision systems can be stand alone, or integrated into your existing, automated production line. Our team of experienced application engineers supports the complete solution to ensure maximum system performance.
Steiner Electric is also the largest supplier of Banner Engineering and Turck sensor products in the Northern Illinois market. As industry leaders, Banner and Turck offer the highest quality sensors for most any application or environment. Banner offers a full range of products, from miniature to full size, including photoelectrics, lasers, ultrasonics, and a variety of specialty sensors. Turck offers inductive and capacitive proximity sensors, flow and pressure sensors, ultrasonics, linear analog sensors, and many more. In addition, both Turck and Banner provide the cables, connectors, brackets, etc. necessary to complete the solution.
Industrial Networking Technology
Steiner is ready to assist you in the development and implementation of your information management strategies. Device and control network technology ensures optimum process operation on the factory floor, utilizing industry standards such as Profibus, AS-I, DeviceNet, Interbus-S and Ethernet. We can provide most LAN and WAN components, as well as the software necessary to complete a cost effective, scaleable solution for your enterprise-wide network demands.
Motors and Drives
Steiner's Motor and Drive team has the experience to address any application. From a single-phase motor to a Closed Loop Vector Drive, HVAC or Industrial, AC or DC,we will find the most productive, cost-effective solution. We represent the leading manufacturers and our factory-authorized technicians are available for start-ups, training, and technical assistance. For "in plant" disassembly or assembly of motors or drives, our Full Service Motor Shop has the equipment and expertise to have you up and running with minimum down time. Call us 24 hours a day at 1-800-303-MOTOR.
Machine Safety
The evolution of machine safety has accelerated considerably in the last decade. Hardwired, mechanical components have been the tried and true solution. But, advances in network technology, the development of "smart" components and ultimately, the introduction of the PLC based, safety controller have changed the way machine builders, manufacturing managers and safety engineers view the machine safety challenge.
For simple machines, the traditional approach is often the most practical and cost effective. However, as machines become more complex, the advantages associated with implementing more automated solutions are considerable. While hardwired relay logic for control has long since migrated to the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), until recently little has been done to garner similar improvements in machine safety systems. Now, dedicated safety controllers and integrated machine safety/control solutions offer far more cost effective, productive solutions.
Assessing the intrinsic risk associated with the process and the return on investment associated with the solution ultimately determines the course that must be taken. Regardless of the state of your process, Steiner Electric is prepared to offer a solution that is right for your business, including controls, light curtains, safety mats, laser scanners, interlocks and most other components.
Training and Education
Steiner offers customized training for all the solutions we provide, either at our Technical Education Center or at your location. This is an ideal approach to address the specific training needs associated with fast tracked projects or for new employees that have to get up to speed quickly.
For more broad based training, we can recommend the right, in-depth classes offered by our suppliers. Typically lasting a full week, these classes are ideal for those employees who will become in-house experts and required to provide engineering or support for a wide range of products and/or applications.
